Character’s Cafe is a full service non-profit restaurant owned and operated by Gateways to Change, Inc. As a non-profit, we aim to enhance the lives of adults with developmental disabilities by providing them with training in a creative environment.
We believe the individuals we support are entitled to experience the personal integrity and self-respect that comes from productive work and sense of accomplishment.
Venue space is located inside Character's Cafe at our Theatre 82, serving as host to both performance and instruction.
Theatre 82 makes a great venue for business meetings, presentations, fundraisers, special events, birthday parties and more.

Together with our delectable food, marvelous coffee blends, superb ambience and alluring venue, we also feature free hi-speed WiFi internet access for laptops, tablets, and phones. We’re always happy to accept gifts of services and goods towards events. For example, DJ services, face painter's, photo booths, etc. that may enhance our events are encouraged to get involved. We also collect many items for auctions, raffles and prizes for events. In-kind gifts are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
Artists Exchange and its affiliated non-profits (GtC Inc., Characters Café & Theatre 82) have many opportunities for sponsorship including our golf tournaments, community outreach programs and classes, walks, Galas, and other events. Sponsorships provide an excellent way to publicly communicate your support of Artists Exchange, Characters Café, Theatre 82, and Gateways to Change.
Volunteer / Host an Event
Artists Exchange (A.E.) relies on the time and expertise of employees, parents, friends, family members, and other volunteers in our community for various fundraising efforts throughout the year. Planning a fundraising event at the Artists Exchange is a wonderful way to gather friends, family members, colleagues, and members of the community to help support our programs and services. Events can range from hosting art classes, renting out space at A.E., Characters Café, or Theatre 82. We also can host your next meeting and do the catering!
Artists Exchange will gladly provide the necessary support and tools to make any event a success. From baby showers, bachelor parties, birthdays, anything you can think of, we have even done weddings. (15% discount to all GtC employees)
